After being an active urbanite who lived downtown, I wanted to settle down in a quality area with my family.
I wanted a safe neighborhood for my young family with plenty of great outdoors, but also the accessibility and the proximity of the city. I did my research and found out that the West Island offered all of what I looked for… without crossing a single bridge.
Here are just a couple of examples of what comes to mind when I think of the joy of living of the Western end of the Island.
The Calm of the Countryside on the Island of Montreal
The West Island is renowned for its large green spaces, its beautiful parks, and its proximity to the shore. It offers the calm and serenity of the suburb, yet it is just a short commute to the busy heart of Montreal. Away from the bridges, the peace and quiet are absolutely wonderful for long strolls with the kids or morning runs by the water.
Despite its low stress, peaceful environment, the West Island also offers close proximity to everything you might need. Public and private schools, public transit, shopping centers, hospitals, markets, farms, you name it. And, let’s not forget, the main highways are just minutes away.
The West Island is home to a well-diverse, bilingual community, which offers a wide range of outdoor and indoor activities for the entire family. Whether you love biking, playing soccer, cooking, or taking fitness classes, there is a little bit of everything for everyone. Each borough organizes unique events in which residents come together and celebrate. These special gatherings include, but are not limited to, local sports’ games, fundraisers, movies in the parks, children’s fairs, art exhibits, and much more. The West Island as a whole has a very neighbourly vibe.
Properties are reasonably priced
You will be surprised of how reasonable the property prices are in the West Island. Conveniently located with all the commodities, the price of owning a house or a condominium is very reasonable. In fact, the price tag on a property is lower than in many surrounding areas of the Island of Montreal. Plus, you get the extra land, peacefulness, and community feel. It is truly a match made in heaven for those seeking affordability, close proximity to the big city, and a great environment for children.
Diversity, authenticity, respect, and integrity are some of the core values that make the West Island community so wonderful to live in. You rip all the benefits of a closely knitted neighbourhood, with the calm of the suburbs, and the proximity to everything in one place. This is why, I am so proud to call the West Island my home and to raise my children in such a coveted, yet down-to-earth location.
